Louisiana Association of Symphony Orchestras (LASO) was founded in August 2003 and is comprised of all seven professional orchestras in Louisiana.
The mission of LASO is to promote and facilitate the interchange of ideas, advocate for the support of orchestras in the State, and coordinate collaborative projects in music education and other areas of mutual interest.
Contributing $8.2 million to Louisiana's economy each year, the seven Louisiana orchestras of LASO reach over 172,000 people annually, including over 42,000 students through more that 320 concerts (22% of which are free to the public). LASO members employ 539 professional musicians and staff, utilize over 1,700 volunteers and provide performing opportunities for over 1,100 student and community musicians. Subscribers of member orchestras enjoy ticket exchange privileges with all seven LASO orchestras. Exchange tickets are subject to the host orchestra's availability; special events are excluded. |
